1. Who we are
businessphonesavings.co.uk is operated by [[LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME]], a company registered in England and Wales (company number [[COMPANY_NUMBER]]), registered office [[REGISTERED_ADDRESS]].
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference [[ICO_REG_NUMBER]].
You can contact us about anything in this policy at [[PRIVACY_EMAIL]] or by post at the address above.
2. What this service does
We are a free comparison and referral service. You tell us about your business phone requirements, and we introduce you to telecoms providers who can quote for them. We are paid a referral fee by those providers. You are never charged.
We do not compare every provider in the UK market — only those we have an arrangement with.
3. What we collect
When you complete the quote form:
- Your name
- Your business name
- Your email address
- Your telephone number
- Your business postcode
- Information about your phone setup: number of desks, current system type, contract end date, whether you need to keep your existing number, and which features matter to you
Automatically, when you visit:
- IP address, browser type and device information
- Pages viewed and how you arrived at the site, including advertising click identifiers
- Cookie and similar identifiers — see section 8
We do not knowingly collect special category data, and we do not ask for it. Please do not include it in free-text fields.
4. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Match you to suitable providers and pass your enquiry to them | Consent — the opt-in you give on the form |
| Contact you about your enquiry | Legitimate interests — responding to a request you made |
| Send you deadline reminder emails | Consent — the separate optional opt-in |
| Operate, secure and improve the site | Legitimate interests — running a functioning service |
| Analytics and advertising measurement | Consent — via the cookie banner |
| Keep records of consent and referrals | Legal obligation and legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are overridden by your rights, and we think a business enquirer would reasonably expect the processing described here.
5. Who we share it with
Telecoms providers. This is the core of the service. When you tick the sharing consent, we pass your enquiry to the providers we match you with so they can quote. Once they hold your data, they are a separate controller and their own privacy policy applies. We will tell you which providers received your details if you ask.
We share with a limited number of matched providers per enquiry — not with every partner, and not with unrelated companies.
We do not sell your personal data to data brokers, list resellers, or any party unconnected to your enquiry.
Service providers acting for us, as processors under contract: website and form hosting, email delivery, analytics, and customer support tooling.
Others, where we are legally required to disclose, or to establish or defend legal claims.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement / UK Addendum, together with appropriate safeguards. You can ask us for details.
7. How long we keep it
- Enquiry data: 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted or anonymised.
- Consent records: 6 years, because we may need to evidence that consent was given.
- Referral and billing records: 6 years, for tax and accounting purposes.
- Analytics data: 14 months.
8. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to make the site and the form work — these do not require consent.
We use analytics and advertising cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner. These include measurement tools from advertising platforms, which allow us to see which adverts led to enquiries. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct it if it is inaccurate
- Erase it, in certain circumstances
- Restrict or object to our processing, including objecting to processing based on legitimate interests
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, including the consent to share your details with providers. Withdrawing consent does not affect sharing that already happened, and you may need to contact the providers directly about data they already hold.
To exercise any of these, email [[PRIVACY_EMAIL]]. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office — ico.org.uk, or 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it first.
10. Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails if you opted in. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
Providers we introduce you to will contact you about your enquiry. That is the point of the service. If you want them to stop, tell them directly, or tell us and we will pass it on.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. If we change it materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how we use data you have already given us, contact you.
